Not necessarily true. Garfield was in the 80's and they made a live action movie of him with Bill Murray and they made a big smash hit in 2004's summer. Then, WB made a TMNT movie and it looks totally sweet and it's another smash hit also. Michael Bay made Transformers and it was a blockbuster classic this year. Now, this holiday season, they're gonna make a Alvin and the Chipmunks. I'm looking forward for that movie before Xmas. When I see the whole trailer, I think that was pretty funny especially when Jason Lee (Dave Seville) shouting ALVIN! HA HA HA HA! FUNNY! So you see, Hollywood isn't destroying the old times, they bring the 80's back. You guys have a Merry Xmas and a New Year.

I agree that Garfield movie wasn't bad, it just annoyed me that they chose to animate Garfield and not Odie. It felt unbalanced to me. XD

However, I too feel apprehensive about the movie. When I first saw the poster for it in our mall (Right after I saw the move Ratatouie (sP?)) I ran over to it crying out, "OMG NO NO NO NO! THEY CAN'T DO THIS!" I was horrified to see them in looking like gangstars and cgified.
YET ever after all that, when I saw the Simpsons movie and in the previews they had that movie, I cringed slightly yet found myself drawn to it.

In the end all I know is, no matter what I am seeing that movie, it brings back too much joy to pass up. >w<
